Marijke

Marijke came to us from the small dutch city of Barneveld, along with her sister, Peternilla. Marijke was the coop's "One-Eyed Wonder!" While hatching, her egg membrane stuck to one of her eyes, rendering her blind in one eye. That didn't stop her from laying the beautiful copper eggs that the Barnevelder hens are famous for, but she did tend to run around in funny circles every once in a while. She was also foster mom to our spring 2006 chicks, adopting them after Bleuetta got bored of them.

Sadly, though, Marijke didn't make it through the winter of 2006-2007.
